Gazette Education Awards

The annual Gazette Education Awards at the Tower Ballroom covers all the schools in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and there are awards for primary and secondary schools and children in a range of categories.

The school were shortlisted in seven categories, and came away with 2 outright wins and 5 highly commended certificates. The winners were Mr Smith as Head Teacher of the Year and the whole school for the Career Aspirations Award.

Runners up were Mr Dalton as Inspirational Teacher of the Year; Rowan Tjepkema-Vermeulen, our star cornet player, with the Creative Arts Award; Charlotte Werner who overcame a lot of challenges to get some amazing GCSE results as Secondary School Student of the Year and the whole school in Secondary School of the Year and the Healthy Schools Award.

Mr Andy Smith, Head Teacher, said, “It was great to be able to celebrate once again the superb achievements of Saint Aidan’s students.

“The Career Aspirations Award recognises the way the we make sure all our students are ready for life after Saint Aidan’s, and the Head teacher of the Year award is a reflection of the great work which all our staff and students do day in and day out.

“As well as celebrating the achievements of primary and secondary schools and pupils throughout our area, we were able to enjoy the ambience of the Tower Ballroom which had welcomed Strictly Come Dancing the week before and also enjoyed some dance performances from Blackpool and Fylde College students.  Well done to everyone who worked so hard!

“I hope that our success in these awards inspires all of us to keep working to make our school even better.”
