What a fantastic start to the new academic year! It has been wonderful to welcome pupils back to Saint Aidan’s, and a particularly warm welcome goes to our new Year 7 students as they begin the next exciting chapter of their educational journey.
A special thank you to the parents and carers who attended our Year 7 Information Afternoon. The event provided an opportunity for pupils and families to become familiar with our school, meet key staff and learn more about life as a member of Team Saint Aidan’s. Staff delivered a range of presentations designed to support a smooth transition into secondary school, while pupils met their tutors and began to build confidence in navigating our excellent facilities.
The positive impact of the afternoon was clear to see when Year 7 arrived for their first day. Dressed smartly in their new uniforms and ready to embrace new opportunities, pupils approached the day with enthusiasm, resilience and a real sense of excitement. After a full day of lessons, making new friends and discovering more about school life, we are sure there were plenty of stories to share at home and perhaps a few earlier bedtimes too!
We would also like to thank our student Officer and Proctor Team, who played an important role in supporting Year 7 throughout the day. From helping pupils find their classrooms to directing them to the lunch queue, toilets and key areas around school, their encouragement and kindness demonstrated the strong sense of community that exists at Saint Aidan’s. It was especially pleasing to see pupils from all year groups looking out for our newest arrivals and helping them settle in.
We recognise that starting secondary school is a significant milestone, and we are incredibly proud of how Year 7 have embraced their first days with us. By the end of their first week, they will already have achieved so much and will no doubt be ready for a well-earned restful weekend.
Thank you, as always, to parents and carers for your continued support, particularly in helping pupils meet our uniform expectations. It has been wonderful to see so many students wearing their uniforms with pride and representing the school so positively.
As a new member of staff, I am looking forward to getting to know our pupils, becoming part of the Saint Aidan’s community and sharing in the many opportunities that this academic year will bring.
Finally, we would like to remind families that our Open Evening for prospective 2027 Year 7 pupils will take place on Thursday 10 September. We look forward to welcoming future members of our school community and are grateful to the many pupils who will be supporting the event and showcasing all that makes Saint Aidan’s such a special place to learn and grow.
