Miss Gurney and Thomas celebrate his award as Young Scientist/Engineer of the Year

This year’s Blackpool Education Awards were held at the Matthews Suite, Bloomfield Road on Monday, 29th November.  Saint Aidan’s was nominated in eight categories and we were delighted to win three of the awards!  Lois Brooks won the Performing Arts Award for her amazing song ‘The Girl in the Dress’.  Joel Elphick, who left us in the Summer, was selected for the Young Sportsman Award, whilst Thomas Renshaw scooped the Young Scientist/Engineer Award.

Special mention should also go to our other nominees, Jane Hoyle, for her sterling work for the PTFA for over a decade and Mr Smith, nominated again for Headteacher of the Year.  The school also narrowly missed out in the Health & Well-Being, Career Aspiration and Secondary School of the Year categories.  A large party of students, staff, parents and friends was on hand to support the nominees and a great evening was had by all.  Here’s to next year!
