The first week of October was marked by our Harvest Worships in school and, once again, our staff and students did not disappoint. Over the two days of worship, we received over 70 bags and boxes of food, toiletries and other vital commodities.
The boxes are distributed to a wide range of community-based charities and organisations, including Help Preesall and Knott End, St. James’ Church, Stalmine and Forest Gate Baptist Church. We know that, sadly, there is great demand and that the boxes will be a lifeline to many families.
We will continue to do our ‘Food Bank Friday’ collections at other times during the year – we know that these organisations need top ups in seasons than just Autumn!
Headteacher, Katie Benter said, ” We were astounded by the generosity of our Saint Aidan’s family for our Harvest collection. In addition to our own Harvest themed Collective Worship services in school, a number of staff and students attended St John’s Church, Pilling, on Sunday 5th October to join in their Harvest festival. Saint Aidan’s students participated in the service and donated our offerings to the Harvest collection.”
