Good News for all of Year Seven

By

We were delighted to welcome Ron, Rosemary and Janice from Good News For Everyone to lead our Year 7 worship just before we broke up for half-term.  Rona and Rosemary have been regular visitors over the years, whilst Janice was on her first visit.  GNFE (formerly The Gideons) visit organisations up and down the country, talking about Jesus and handing over free New Testaments as a gift.  Every Year 7 student left the worship clutching their brand new red testament!

Ron spoke about his experiences delivering Bibles to hotels, police, armed forces, prisons and schools and explained that, in the organisation’s history, over 10 million had been distributed!  Ron also showed the many designs the Bibles can come in and the students were also able to watch a film, made by GNFE, based on the Beatitudes, which explained how their new little book could be used.

Mr Lord even brought in his copy of the New Testament that he’d received as an 11 year-old-boy in 1980 (please don’t do the Maths) as well as a copy from 1942 that his grandfather, Edmund Lord, took with him throughout Italy and North Africa during the Second World War.

Head of Year 7, Miss Butler said, “I am really impressed with the standard of behaviour and politeness from Year 7 today in their worship led by Good News For Everyone. All students listened and showed the school in a brilliant light to our guests, with Ron even telling me how impressed he was with everyone. Well done, Year 7!”
