Building a Vision for the Future at Saint Aidan’s

By

This half term, Saint Aidan’s was delighted to welcome Bishop Jill for a special Vision and Values Workshop with our students. It was an inspiring afternoon filled with thoughtful discussion, creativity and reflection as students explored what makes our school unique and what we want our future to look like.

Bishop Jill shared an encouraging message about Saint Aidan and the values he held. Through stories and discussion, she reminded us that if we have great faith, love and hope like Saint Aidan, we can achieve remarkable things together. Her message challenged students to think about their hopes for both themselves and our school community.

The workshop began with one of our Officers, Katie Bullen, who shared her own vision for Saint Aidan’s. Her enthusiasm and passion inspired students to start building their own ideas about the future of our school and the values that matter most to us.

Students then took part in a series of activities designed to explore the identity of Saint Aidan’s. Working in groups, they were given ten different values to consider and discuss before selecting the three they felt best represented who we are as a school. They also selected a Bible verses, that connected to their chosen values and compliments our school scripture John 10:10.

The discussions were lively, thoughtful and, at times, challenging. Students carefully weighed different opinions, shared personal insights and worked together to present their ideas. Their presentations demonstrated a deep understanding of what they value about Saint Aidan’s and what they hope to see in the years ahead.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was hearing students’ voices. The conversations helped us uncover not only who we are now, but also who we are becoming. Students spoke confidently about the strengths of our school and contributed fresh ideas that will help shape a new vision for Saint Aidan’s.

As we continue this journey, we are excited about the next stage of the process. We will be inviting contributions from students, parents, governors and staff, ensuring that as many voices as possible help build a shared vision for the future.

The workshop was a valuable reminder that every member of our community has an important part to play. We look forward to working together as we develop a vision that reflects our values, celebrates our strengths and inspires the next chapter of Saint Aidan’s story.
