Our school was buzzing with creativity and confidence this term as we held our very first in-school Drama Competition, open to students from all year groups. The event saw over 40 students take part, with performers entering scenes of their choice in either duologue or group categories.
What made the competition particularly special was the independence shown by our students. Students rehearsed the scenes with no teacher input and it has been lovely to see the drama room a buzz with rehearsals every lunch. The standard of performances was excellent, with a wide range of engaging, thoughtful and entertaining scenes showcased throughout the competition. The competition attracted a strong audience, with students attending to watch and support their peers throughout the performances.
Hear from some of our students who took part:
“I took part in an interschool drama duologues competition and had so much fun. I got to work with a student from another year and loved working together to make our acting better. We placed and have been selected to represent the school at Lytham Speech and Drama Festival in March. Everybody did so well and I am so grateful for this very exciting opportunity.” – Erin M
“I recently took part in a drama festival where I performed a duologue. This experience allowed me to develop my performance skills, characterisation and working closely with a partner on stage. Preparing for the festival helped me build confidence, experience a live audience and being in a team.” – Abbey S
“I am very grateful to have been given the chance to enter the in school duologue competition. I love an opportunity to perform and to improve my acting skills. It was an amazing experience, and it brought students across all year groups together, building a supportive environment and community I am proud to be a part of. I am very excited to perform again at the Lytham Speech and Drama Festival in March.” – Katie B
We are delighted to announce that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category will now go on to represent the school at the Lytham Speech and Drama Festival in March. We wish them the very best of luck and are incredibly proud of everyone who took part in making this first year such a success.
