Welcome to Saint Aidan's BBC News School Report page. Saint Aidan's have been part of BBC News School Report since 2008 and we are into our fifth year. Being part of School Report gives our students chance to improve their skills in communication, presentation and team building, as well as giving them the opportunity to work with media professionals, making reports for the BBC.
After a hard day in the newsroom, meeting all our deadlines, we have finally finsihed our final report.
Two of our School Reporters, Anna and Michael, made a report for North West Tonight on Shale Gas Mining. Their film was shown as part of the NWT bulletin on Tuesday 19th March. Here is their report:
BBC News School Report gives 11-16 year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience. On the 21st March 2013, schools take part in a Live News Day, simultaneously creating video, audio and text-based news reports, and publishing them here on the school website, to which the BBC aims to link. Come back then to see our report.
February Practise day was a great chance for our school reporters to test out their reporting skills. Our school reporters chose which stories from the day's news they wanted to cover, wrote their scripts and are filmed their reports. The stories they chose to cover included the passage of the asteroid close to earth, the new i-watch, the menace of internet trolls, The Wanted or One Direction – which is your favourite, are clip on ties at school a good idea and Valentine’s Day at school.
